Important: Asbestos Testing for Pre-1990 Homes
If your home was built before 1990, there is a possibility that the popcorn ceiling texture contains asbestos fibres. Asbestos was commonly used in textured ceiling products until the late 1980s in Ontario. Disturbing asbestos-containing material without proper testing and handling is a serious health hazard and is regulated under Ontario Regulation 278/05.
ROZI Contractors will coordinate professional asbestos testing before any scraping begins on pre-1990 ceilings. If asbestos is detected, we will advise you on the proper remediation steps required before ceiling work can proceed. Your safety and the safety of our crews is our top concern. Level 4 — Standard Smooth
The industry standard for residential smooth ceilings. All joints and fasteners are taped, coated, and sanded smooth. This finish is suitable for flat and eggshell paint finishes and is the go-to choice for most homeowners removing popcorn ceilings. Looks clean, modern, and premium at a competitive price point.
Level 5 — Premium Skim Coat
The highest achievable finish in the drywall industry. A full thin skim coat of joint compound is applied over the entire ceiling surface, creating an ultra-smooth, glass-like finish with zero imperfections. Required for glossy or semi-gloss paint finishes, or any application where critical lighting may highlight surface variations.
Knockdown Texture
