FIRE TAPING & SHAFT WALL SYSTEMS
Fire taping is the process of taping and sealing joints in fire-rated drywall assemblies using fire-rated compounds. Unlike cosmetic taping (Level 3, 4, 5), fire taping is strictly for maintaining the fire-resistance integrity of the assembly — it doesn't need to look finished, it needs to seal.
Shaft wall systems are pre-engineered fire-rated wall assemblies designed to enclose vertical shafts — elevator shafts, stairwells, mechanical chases, and duct shafts. They use specially designed C-H studs and liner panels that can be installed from one side of the wall, which is critical when access from inside the shaft is not possible. All installations meet Ontario Building Code fire-resistance requirements.
